It was the long exposure pictures that gave us the idea to use small torches to create titles and graphics for a trailer. We did an evening workshop session dedicated to creating a series of light doodle animations and a ‘light alphabet’ for our titles and motion graphics. These were achieved by moving around a small bright torch in front of our Canon 5D camera while it takes a long exposure picture –creating a kind of shining trail effect. These were quite tricky and it took a bit of practice to learn how to get them right. A series of 24 light doodle stills were put in sequence after the session to create the light doodle animation –which we thought would look cool in our finished film. Here are the finished results…
